Helicopters - XRB Electric Lama |
Every now and then a helicopter enters the market that is truly unique . The new electric Lama is case in point . Its contra-rotating main blades dispense with the need for a tail rotor system, as there's no torque to compensate for! There are major stability benefits from this system in that there is no tail swing as the power is increased or decreased . All cyclic controls are made by the lower rotor head but the upper rotor head provides additional stability by using a non-aerodynamic flybar with weights . Rudder control is provided by 'differential' rotor speed control and stabilised by a Piezo gyro . Power and control inputs all travel through the 'umbilical'
cord and this of course makes no limit on flight time! You can spend as
long as you like, either learning helicopters from new or perfecting your
hovering skills indoors - no matter what the weather . The supplied controller
is almost identical to a radio control transmitter so changing to a standard
R/C helicopter later will still seem familiar . Copyright © 2005 Whitrush Designs |
